We are currently updating this competition.
We will have a brand new and improved guitar competition launching in just a couple of weeks.
Check back soon for more details and share the news with any guitar players you know!
1. Who can participate?
Anyone can, no matter your age, location, or genre.
2. What are the requirements for videos?
- The video you are submitting to this competition should be of good quality, and show you playing guitar as a solo performer and not with a band or other musicians.
- If we doubt that you are actually playing on guitar what is being heard in the audio, it will be left to our discretion to remove your video from the competition.
- No slide shows, photo compilations, etc are allowed. It must be a live action video of you performing.
- One submission per contestant, so choose your best video/performance to submit.
3. What is the process to participate?
- All participants must be registered members of R&R World.
- Once registered, go to the Add Video page, fill out the necessary information needed for your video, and then upload it.
- A month after the voting started we will then reward the 3 participants who received the most votes.
- If you don't win, don't worry. We reset the votes each month and automatically allow all videos (who haven't won) to remain in the competition!
4. How and when will the winners be chosen?
There are now two different ways to win. We have added a judges panel, consisting of music industry professionals, to help choose the 1st and 2nd place winners of this competition. R&R World users will vote for their favorite video submission, and the guitar player with the most votes at the end of the round will come in 3rd place. If the judges pick the same guitarist who received the most votes, 3rd place will then be given to the video with the second most votes. Enter now and start promoting yourself!
5. When does the voting start?
November 2nd
6. When the winner will be announced?
March 31st
7. Once I upload my video, how can I promote it?
We will provide you with a link to the URL of the page that contains your video. You can share this link with your friends and fans or post it on your other profile pages. We'll even provide you with a widget which you can add to other websites that will allow viewers and visitors to click on it to vote for your video!
8. What does "Melt My Face" mean?
For those of you who may not be familiar with the phrase "Melt My Face" or "Face Melter", here is an explanation courtesy of The Urban Dictionary:
Face melting is what happens to the crowd at a hard rock/heavy metal concert. Its a by product of "the rock" and "rocking out" usually brought about by a nasty guitar solo or killer breakdown. Can include other facets of heavy metal music, like "high voltage", "explosives", "damnation" or the like. Also heard in the iteration, "you melted my face." Bands known for face melting are AC/DC, Iron Maiden and Judas Priest, however Rush has been known to melt faces, and Eddie Van Halen of Van Halen is reported to have an effect pedal that generates "face melting" sound. The only real case of (out of context) face melting on record is from "Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark" where at the end, Nazis get melted. Also, the "World of Warcraft" community has borrowed the term for a particular sequence in their video game. (urbandictionary.com)
