Shapour Bastansiar was born into an artistic family in Iran. His brothers were graduates of Tehran Music Conservatoire and musicians of Tehran Symphonic Orchestra. He began to learn music from the age of 10, while entering the Tehran Music Conservatoire. . After receiving the Diploma of Piano, he started studying in the field of Music Composition . He was also engaged in stage management of the opera and Ballet in Roudaki Hall of Tehran. Shapour left Iran for Sweden just after getting his Bachelor's Degree in Music Composition. There he began to study Music composition for film, and wrote the music for the film "Prostitutes" made by Moslem Mansouri. He has written many pianosolo fragments and duets with percussion instruments. In addition to that he has written many music pieces for great Orchestras, some of them led by himself such as Cologne Radio Orchestra and Los Angeles Symphonic Orchestra. Shapour has been teaching piano and music composition for many years. He has performed various works in different methods like pop music, Iranian and Kurdish Folk music and he has written several music pieces for children both in Iran and Sweden. His first CD, named "Flying in the Melody" was released in 1999
